Funemployed, Day 5

Today I did a little work for the online class that I teach, but I couldn’t stay indoors all day. Around noon, I met up with some friends for a picnic style lunch in Bryant Park. We were able to drag some seats into the shade so that it wasn’t too hot. Summer is definitely here. Ugh. Afterward, I had some time to kill. I decided to check out the National Museum  national museum american indianof the American Indian. I’ve always meant to see what it was all about. First of all, the building is located inside the historic Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House. Second – it’s free! My favorite word right now. 🙂 The main reason I’ve put the visit off for so long is that I am from Seattle. I feel like my childhood was saturated with Native American art. Still, the museum was really enjoyable. Their coverage of all the different kinds of tribes was extensive, highlighting each tribe’s distinct culture. I also loved the blend of artifacts with modern art. Think Colorfully! I sort of freaked out today, as it hit me that June is almost over, and I applied for three jobs. This brings my total up to eight. I remember when I was graduating from NYU. I think I sent out about 48 resumes, and ended up getting two job offers – both of which I took. New York is tough, eh? I will not give up! Oh, and it turns out I DO have some yellow in my wardrobe. One thing, actually. This purse:

I purchased it at the Goodwill for $7, I think. Bargain, eh? I always feel more cheerful carrying it. Well, this is the time to pull out anything that inspires me with positivity. I’ve never had this much trouble finding summer work before. Just keep digging, Becky. There’s treasure buried here somewhere…
