The Adjunct Hustle

The Adjunct Professor's Guide to SuccessI de-Christmased my apartment today. Boo. And yet this means it’s time to get ready for school to start again. Clean the home! Fold the laundry! Make a large batch of soup and freeze it in individual portions! All in preparation of what I hope will be a very busy season. I have a full schedule of classes at the fashion college, my bread and butter. I may get a section at the community college, but they’re light on classes in the Spring. I’ve put my feelers out to a few other schools, and we’ll see if I get any bites. This is a career that keeps you on your toes. You can never let your resume get stale or your interviewing skills become rusty, because every three to four months you must dust them off and trot them out again to line up the next semester’s work. Fun, eh? It’s nerve-wracking, but kind of exciting too. You never know where you’re going to end up.
